My day starts when I get into my works van at around 6am and drive to my usual site located near Asfordby. When I get to site, my first task is to top up the engines with fuel. I also check the coolant and oil levels and make sure the engines are looking in tip top
Winter is our busiest season which I believe is a good thing for our engines as we are constantly fine tuning and troubleshooting issues. I like this aspect of my job, but it’s also the most challenging part – it’s like solving a 3D jigsaw puzzle and definitely keeps me on my toes.
I got into this field when I was 17 through an apprenticeship and I now have 15 years of experience as well as a range of qualifications including – a NVG in mechanical engineering, City & Guilds Diploma in Electric Installation and more recently I completed a servicing course for our new super fast reserve fleet!
