Solihull/London – 19/11/18 – UK Power Reserve has been named the winner of a Silver Stevie® Award in the Achievement in Developing and Promoting Women category in the 15th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honour women executives, entrepreneurs, employees, and the companies they run– worldwide.  The Stevie Awards have been hailed as the world’s premier business awards.

UK Power Reserve, the leading flexibility provider to the UK grid and part of the Sembcorp Group, has picked up this award in recognition of the work of the Power Up initiative. Power Up was created internally earlier this year to ensure all members of the business can reach their full potential. The scope has been increased to encourage school-aged girls, in particular, to consider a career in STEM. Over the past year, the number of women in senior management positions at UKPR has increased to 3 out of 8

More than 1,500 entries were submitted this year for consideration in more than 90 categories, including Executive of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Company of the Year, Startup of the Year, Women Helping Women, and Women Run Workplace of the Year.

Sam Wither, Head of UKPR, commented “It is a great honour to have our business recognised by a prestigious international award like this. We have placed a strong emphasis on our people over the last 18 months and I’m delighted to see our improvements recognised externally. Our Best in Class mentality stretches beyond business goals and to ensuring the success and wellbeing of our employees. UKPR is a young business, with a young workforce – we’ve attracted bright young minds which we nurture and develop to ensure they reach their full potential”

Julie Sutton, Corporate Business Services Director added “We work extremely hard within UKPR to ensure the workplace is inclusive for all employees.  We do it because it’s the right thing to do and we know it brings great results, however, to get external recognition for our efforts is fantastic. I was delighted to attend the ceremony and collect the silver award on behalf of UKPR.”

“In its 15th year, the Stevie Awards for Women in Business received a record number of nominations. With the new Women|Future Conference preceding the announcement of winners on November 16, it was a day to celebrate the achievements of working women around the world,” said Michael Gallagher, founder and president of the Stevie Awards.  “We congratulate all of this year’s Grand, Gold, Silver and Bronze Stevie Award winners for their achievements.”
