Solihull/London (06/02/19) UK Power Reserve has been named as a finalist in the Newcomer category in the REBA Employee Wellbeing Awards 2019.

These independent awards benchmark and celebrate pioneers of employee wellbeing. Winners will be announced during a ceremony in London on Thursday 7 February.

With the Newcomer category, REBA recognises organisations which have successfully implemented the first phase(s) or initiatives of a wellbeing strategy.

UK Power Reserve’s entry draws on the creation of the company’s Wellbeing Committee, an internal group dedicated to ensuring a stronger focus on employees. Wellbeing places a crucial emphasis on people, as keeping staff healthy and happy helps maintain a strong work ethic and enables employees to perform better in a fast-paced environment.

All teams within the organisation are represented on the Wellbeing Committee, which meets regularly to discuss any items of concern, new ideas, and innovations. Topics are fed into the committee from all around the business, either directly through their representatives, or to the dedicated Wellbeing email. This has made sure all employees feel connected and that they have a voice.

To date, UKPR’s Wellbeing Committee has introduced a range of changes, from plants in the office to water bottles for all staff, to talks on mental health awareness – and that’s just the beginning. A range of action points are being taken forward to continuously improve the working environment and the support available to all staff, which are communicated to employees on a regular basis.

Julie Sutton, Corporate Business Services Director, added “We are delighted to have our work recognised in this way by REBA. As a founding member of our Wellbeing Committee, I understand the need to focus on the happiness and welfare of our employees. Wherever employees carry out their work, be it at one of our numerous power generation sites, or in one of our offices, we must ensure that every member of the team feels connected and that they have a voice. I’m proud to say that our Wellbeing Committee achieves that”.
